The N9 response pack will usually be sent to the defendant by the court automatically when a claim is filed. The defendant then chooses how they want to respond and fills in the appropriate parts of the pack.

As a defendant, you have 14 days to respond to a claim. The N9 response pack gives you several options depending on your situation:

Important Deadlines
- • 14 days: Standard deadline to respond to a claim
- • 28 days: Extended deadline if you file Form N9 (acknowledgment)
- • Missing the deadline: May result in judgment by default against you
