These forms are used to request judgment from the court when the defendant has not responded, has admitted the claim, or when you need to respond to an admission offer.

Form N225 - Request for judgement and reply to admission, will usually be sent to you by the courts. You shouldn't need to print this yourself. Form N227 is an alternative form for a case where the claim isn't for a specified amount of money.

You can request judgment from the court in several situations. The court will usually send you the appropriate form automatically when these situations arise:
Defendant Ignores Claim
No response received within 14 days of service
Defendant Admits Claim
Defendant accepts liability but you need to respond to their offer
Part Admission
Defendant admits part of the claim and you want judgment on that part
Choosing the Right Form
The choice between N225 and N227 depends on whether your claim is for a specified (fixed) or unspecified (to be assessed) amount:
Form N225 - Specified Amount
Use when: Your claim is for a specific, fixed amount of money
Examples:
- Unpaid invoices
- Loan defaults
- Fixed contract damages
- Rent arrears
Form N227 - Unspecified Amount
Use when: Claiming damages where the amount needs to be assessed
Examples:
- Personal injury claims
- Property damage (unknown cost)
- Loss of earnings
- General damages
